2 June is Horton in Ribblesdale Gala and the Pen y Ghent Fell Race. (organised by Settle Harriers). I had volunteered to marshal.
A mile before Horton I stopped on the roadside and collected a selection of a dozen flowers.. I would show them to people at the Gala. Would they know the names of the flowers?
Top left is the pale pink Bistort, and top right the purple Wood Crane's-bill? - two flowers which used to grow more often in our Dales' hay meadows. Bottom left is Bush Vetch and bottom right is Red Clover.

The white is Cow Parsley |

Gary is giving starters orders |
 |
And they're off! |
 |
The tall man with dark hair (about 5th from left) eventually won (in 48 min 10 sec) and number 117 (on the right) came second (51 min 01 sec) |
The route is 10.5km, 564m (The results and pics will eventually be on the Harriers website).
An the final runner returns.. 2 hr 4 min - Well done - That's still a lot faster than I could have walked it.
