This crustose lichen with its many brick red apothecia is distinctive. It grows on acid rock, here on top of a table-tomb. It is a new record for this churchyard not spotted in 1993 when the last reported survey of the churchyard was made.
I will be visiting the churchyard at Linton on Saturday 5 April and leading a Beginners walk from 9.15 to 11am. It is free but people need to book as spaces are limited. See www.craven-conservation-group.org.uk Members of Upper Wharfedale Field Society and visitors welcome.
