Two fascinating plants - One an indicator of ancient woodland, the second an indicator of former habitation

This beautiful plant that looks a bit like Dog's Mercury. It not common. It is an indicator of ancient woodland. It's black fruit is poisonus (as are the leaves)

Good King Henry: Chenopodium bonus-henricus
This is usually found near old houses or tracks. The leaves used to be eaten as a vegetable. This plant was found on at the beginning of Mitchell Lane on 25 May. However there is only a small amount so please do not pick it.
