Here is my contribution for 1 June: Patterns
Fields near my house this morning.
I wonder why the two fields look so different? - they looked similar in winter when grazed by sheep
Not all my trips outside will be random - I have some planned already -
Leading a natural history guided walk at the Field Meeting of the YNU at Helwith Bridge. (SSSI) - Do come - flowers, sedges, sphagna, soils, rocks..
Marshalling for the Pen y Ghent Fell Race.. tomorrow
Marshalling for the Settle Hills Race
Leading a training day for the Nidderdale AONB Wildwatch project
Running a Sedges course at Malham Tarn Field Centre.
But that leaves lots more days to go out and explore..
Yesterday we put up a display for the 25th anniversary of Ingleborough National Nature Reserve. (It's 25 years since Prince Charles came and opened the land as an NNR, at the Field above the Hill Inn -.)
We put up a display ( 35 years of) Craven Conservation Group too
and
a big sign to celebrate 30 Days Wild (click through).
Meanwhile look close at the grasses on the road verge this morning - when there is more moisture, the flowers open.. Can you see the anthers hanging on the filaments, and the feathery stigmas?
