02 June 2023 - Walk with Helen at Borrins Farm - Day 2 of 30Dayswild

Penyghent in the background. buttercups in the midground

Going towards the stream

In their stream/flush that comes from a phreatic source - was some Marchantia. this has male receptacles

Male receptacles pf Marchantia polymorpha peltate, shallowly 8-10 lobe, stalks 2-3 cm, less common than female receptacles (from AJE Smith)  .

The aquatica version of M polymorpha has a dark midrib in the thallus.

A liverwort.
Maybe Jungermania

Woolly Lamb tried to tell us it was her feeding time but we said "Later"

Thanks for a great walk Helen.

On the way home I stopped at Sherwood - Sherrard Brow - the Bluebells of two weeks ago are being replaced by dog daisies
